以下是一首我真的看得不是很懂的歌詞，感覺文法怪怪的，內容也不太連貫，作者是一位被譽為calypso之王（calypso king of the world ）的歌手Mighty Sparrow。會貼在這裡的原因是因為這是首很有意思的歌。

大部分朋友可能對calypso很陌生，那是加勒比海地區特有的一種音樂類型，像藍調、搖滾、爵士那樣；特色在於它的歌詞，用隱晦諷刺的方式紓發對現狀的不滿。聽起來有點像黑人饒舌歌，節奏很強，吵吵的，基本上是松鼠不懂得欣賞的音樂類型之一。會發展出這樣的音樂跟加勒比海地區從前被殖民、佔領、奴役的歷史有關係（見這裡），起源是早期非洲黑奴因為種植甘蔗的需要被引進千里達；在沒有人權、工作時又不能夠和其他人聊天的狀況下，黑奴們開始哼哼唱唱，即興填上歌詞嘲諷雇主作為消遣（怎麼跟blues的起源很像，黑人壓力很大@@）。
千里達的殖民歷史很豐富，西班牙、法國、英國都曾經佔領過該地，獨立前的統治者是英國。「Jean and Dinah」這首歌以妓女為寫生主角，藉「路邊妓女再也招攬不到客人的狀況」表達對美軍離開的雀躍之情；背景是二次世界大戰時，美國把千里達當作油料補給站而進駐軍隊，因此有許多婦女成為軍妓，而大戰結束後因為美國大兵的離開，妓女和酒吧的生意一落千丈。這類有關政治的歌曲後來對促進人民自主意識，進而爭取從大英國協獨立有很大的影響。
calypso的輝煌年代是1920-1970年，目前傳統calypso已經式微，現代的則加入印地安人的樂器成為soca；但因為是即興歌曲很好玩，又曲風熱鬧，在千里達每年最重要的活動嘉年華（carnival）中還是少不了它。Carnival Road March就是要考驗歌手的急智，不但要在限定時間內就指定主題臨場寫歌詞唱出來，還得押韻，所以很…很難，Sparrow就曾經得到八次冠軍所以不愧為calypso之王。此外，calypso對雷鬼音樂（reggae）以及rapso也有很深的影響。
其實我對Sparrow另一首歌更有興趣，也是Marina介紹給我的，歌詞幽默地嘲諷英國女皇偷情的八卦，叫做Phillip my dear (man in de bedroom)；不過歌詞實在是太難找了，怎麼找也找不到，實在有點可惜。
拉拉雜雜說了一堆，松鼠的結論是：calypso是蠻有趣的音樂類型，也是個藝術；雖然旋律普遍不怎麼樣，可是對熟悉背景的人來說，它的歌詞是有生命力、有影響力的。很特別。
